20042008, bachelors degree in Biology at the University of Bangor, Wales. Thesis title: Ozone and drought; implications for growth and physiology of Molinea caerulea (Poaceae) and carbon cycling in peatlands (supervisor: Professor Chris Freeman); 2009–2010, Master of Science degree in Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants at Edinburgh Botanic Garden with Edinburgh University. Thesis title: Origin, diversification and evolution of Samolus valerandi (Samolaceae) (supervisors: Dr Louis Ronse de Craene and Dr Livia Wanntorp); 2010–2014, PhD title: The Azores Diversity Enigma; diversity and evolution of the genus Pericallis (Asteraceae) in Macaronesia at the Natural History Museum London and University of Bristol (supervisors: Professor Simon Hiscock and Dr Mark Carine). 2014, Plant molecular systematics research assistant and science public engagement for schools with the project Decoding Nature at the Natural History Museum, London (http://www.nhm.ac.uk/take-part/citizen-science/decoding-nature.html).

  • Taxonomy and systematics of Asteraceae. Projects so far involve Pericallis, Lactuca and Scorzonera.
